Flooding has become a problem for the
Ashton in Makerfield area.

If the developers go ahead and concrete over
40 acres of green land the current flooding
problem can only get worse.

The area around Bryn Road South was devastated recently with houses
and businesses suffering, taking years to recover.

Due to this flooding a major reconstruction of the sewer system in that
area has taken place causing disruption to the local residents and to the
people travelling in, or through the Ashton area.

The original access road for the proposed development was from Bolton R
oad,
opposite the Riding Lane estate, where a huge access road was planned.

These photographs were taken just 200 meters away on Bolton Road,
near the entrance to Viridor Wood.

The photographs were taken in January this year.
