New road needed to handle extra HGVs.

To cope with the increase in HGVs and other
industrial traffic a new road has been
proposed.

Branching off Bryn Road after the railway bridge, across from St. Peters church,it will
cut across the fields by the side of Bryn Rec.

An already congested road

Passing behind the late shop it will emerge on to Wigan Road (A49) between the Golden Ball
and the Nursery at the top of the hill.

Residents at Landgate tell us that it regularly takes them 10 minutes or
more to cross the road. With increased traffic it can only get worse.

Parents taking children to Nichol Mere and St.Peters at Bryn will have to
navigate a huge new roundabout as will residents walking to Bryn shops.

The air quality in Langate, already a concern, will suffer greatly.
More traffic from the new warehouses will be added as well as more from
the existing site, as Wigan Council put in new measures to force site traffic to use the road.

The Soughers Lane junction is already dangerous due to the level
of traffic and the speed at which traffic comes down the hill.
Add to this a huge roundabout and it can only get worse.

The new road means more pollution and noise but above all makes
Landgate a more dangerous place to live.
