How
much more traffic can Ashton take ?
Imagine what would happen if we added
extra vehicles to our congested Ashton roads.
If the 40 acre Industrial Estate expansion
goes ahead then this is just what will happen!
The units
built will be used for warehousing and will be fed
for 24 hours
a day by a constant stream of HGVs. Add to this the extra
lorries and
maintenance vehicles not to mention the added workforce transport
needs. This adds thousands of extra journeys to the Ashton
roads
each day.
The air quality in the Ashton area must be
the worst for miles around.
We already have standing traffic on all the main road coming
in to Ashton
at least twice a day. Bolton road, Wigan road, Liverpool and
Warrington road
have queues stretching miles EVERYDAY.
There are plans to build a
new road to relieve
the impact of extra traffic.
NO MATTER WHERE THE ROAD IS BUILT:
EXTRA TRAFFIC MEANS MORE POLLUTION.
